Rapunzel
One would think living in the city would be great
On the top floor of a very tall building
With a view of all of New York.
Those people, however
Do not have miles of hair
Scratchy and thick
And full of split ends.
In the summer
Strangulating and vile
Keeping me contained.
Father says it’s for the best
Having all this hair
Would put me in a zoo
And boys don’t like girls in a zoo.
On the top floor of a very tall building
With a view of all of New York.
Those people, however
Do not have miles of hair
Scratchy and thick
And full of split ends.
In the summer
Strangulating and vile
Keeping me contained.
Father says it’s for the best
Having all this hair
Would put me in a zoo
And boys don’t like girls in a zoo.
